Australia’s first mobile Mission Operations Centre (MOC) is more than a feat of engineering — it’s a statement of national capability.
Built by Varley Group for CSIRO, this state-of-the-art control centre transforms from a B-double trailer into a fully functional mission control hub in under an hour. When CSIRO needed a vibration-tolerant server rack system, they turned to Opie Manufacturing Group, long-time partners of Varley, to adapt and manufacture a proven Argent rack design for this specialised application. Behind the glowing monitors and high tech comms sits an Australian-built solution — engineered for precision, performance, and reliability.
A New Era of Mobile Space Control
Unveiled at the 2025 International Astronautical Congress in Sydney, the MOC gives Australia the ability to support space missions, emergency responses, and field operations anywhere across the continent.
As Mark Dunn from CSIRO explained in the EEVblog tour:
“Instead of building permanent facilities, we can take this truck, set it up on site, and run our launches from there.”
In less than 20 minutes, the MOC can be parked, deployed, and operational — complete with flight dynamics, telemetry, propulsion, and communications stations for up to 30 operators.
